Episode Re Uploads

red-logo-white-smallDue to YouTube removing a bunch of episodes of our shows from its site, I have spent many hours re uploading those that didn’t work, the re uploads can be found on our YouTube channel and they should work for the majority of countries.

The re uploads include the following episodes:

There are many more episodes that need uploading, I will be sorting this within the next few weeks, so all our YouTube videos work for the majority of our listeners.

For more information as to why we have to remove tracks from our shows, read this blog post for more information:

Why we remove songs from uploaded episodes to YouTube

red-logo-white-smallThis blog post explains why we remove songs from episodes we upload to YouTube.

The answer is quite simple, the copyright owners of the songs that were removed, are not permitting us to upload these tracks to our YouTube account, copyright owners/record labels, have the right to decide what happens if someone uses their content in videos on YouTube, if we upload something that the copyright holder does not let us upload, the video will be blocked worldwide, or the audio in the video will be muted.

pic5So we then have to remove songs manually, we do this in order for our videos to be shown as far and wide as possible, we want everyone to enjoy our videos, anywhere in the world on YouTube, we also use our YouTube videos on our website, for people to watch episodes of our shows they may of missed.

You know if a song has been removed when a title comes on the video, which says something along the lines of, “Last song removed due to copyright” this may also be why it takes so long for episodes to appear on our website, because we have to go through the entire re edit, re recompression and re upload of these videos.

We hope this blog post answers your question on why we remove songs from our YouTube videos.

Server Maintenance Every 2nd Wednesday of the Month

red-logo-white-smallEvery 2nd Wednesday of every month, RCD Radio’s Live 24/7 Stream will go offline for scheduled maintenance.

Why?

We like to keep our servers up to date with the latest Windows Updates, as Microsoft releases updates for their operating system on every 2nd Tuesday of every month, we are doing our updates 24 hours later, why the delay? because we want to make sure Microsoft got it right, also giving them plenty of chance to release their updates.

IMG_6657How long?

We may also do some other maintenance on our server, such as a cleaning or hard drive checks, or even, hardware updates, so it all depends, but the minimum our servers will be down, is between 30 – 60 minutes, depending on how long it takes Windows Updates to install, typically, thats all we will do, if we need to do any other maintenance, we will mention on our social media pages that it may take longer than normal.

How will we know?

We will always tweet and post on Facebook, when we are about to shut off the servers for maintenance, we will also link to this blog post, explaining what it is and what we do.

t-shirt-bulk4What is effected?

Everything to do with our Live streams, including our main Live page stream and all our mobile streams, also effected, our IRC Channel Bots, such as RoBo and Jarvis, our website and other services will continue to operate as normal.

We would like to avoid these important maintenance checks on our servers, but these checks keep our servers in working perfect order for what they are used for and therefore must be done.

Follow us on Twitter and Facebook to keep up to date on our downtime and for other things regarding RCD Radio.
