RCD Radio Transmission Broadcast and Recordings Test

red-logo-white-smallSome major changes have been made to the quality of our feed and how we record our shows/content, today we have performed a major broadcast tests to see what quality is best for us.

We have had to do this today due to the fact that the Rock Night broadcast, although was pretty much spot on during the broadcast from a output point of view, was terrible when we downloaded it from the VaughnLive server (The service we use to broadcast on currently) on to YouTube and the fact that DJ Lozo’s Mixes Episode 7 was not even recorded properly due to a technical fault with the server.

DSCF4501When we have streamed in the past, our past broadcasts have been downloaded from the streaming service we were using for our own archives and for YouTube, we have never done any sort of local recording and we have always had to rely on the service we are using, but from now, we will be making local recordings of our broadcasts as well as server recordings, incase our local recordings fail.

We have decreased the size of the video output for the broadcast and we are now recording the stream directly on to the streaming machine so we have a good and clear local recording for YouTube, plus if our local recording fails for what ever reason, we always have the server recording which will actually be in a better state than it was before.

DSCF4525The reason its taken us this long to sort this properly is to the fact of new equipment and experimenting with it to see what it can and can’t handle in Live streaming situations, is was not until we actually did a Live show would we know for sure what we could and could not do.

Below are 2 videos, first video is how the steam will now look when recording on the VaughnLive server (This is not what it will look like when Live, only recording, Live will look allot better)

Under the first video will be a local recording of the same stream, both videos were recorded at exactly the same time and neither video’s have been put through any movie software, this was all done Live within Telestream, Wirecast, they have come directly from where they first came from.

Lost Video and Audio from 29/11/2014 Broadcasts

DSCF4525Due to unforeseen circumstances, RCD Radio is missing video and audio footage of last nights shows on RCD Radio, such as DJ Lozo’s Mixes Episode 7 and Rock Night with DJ Luemas155 Episode 1.

DSCF4501We expected the videos to show on VaughnLive when our broadcasts had finished, but what had happened was the broadcast had lost connection, re connected to the VaughnLive servers and its believed it over wrote what had already been recorded.

This means, we only have about the last 50 minutes of Rock Night with DJ Luemas155 Episode 1, we shall try and upload this on to YouTube this week.

DJ Lozo will be doing a re record of his original broadcast, it won’t be Live, it will be recorded locally and it will then be shared on YouTube at a later date (Hopefully this week)

So if you were hoping to re watch these two broadcast, this is quite unfortunate, but we shall do our best to restore what we can, we did take allot of photo’s during the night, so these photos will appear on the appropriate pages on the site for that show, more details about that in a future blog post.

Sorry for any inconvenience caused.

What’s happening at RCD Radio? What’s New?

studio-pic26RCD Radio 24/7 Streaming
The reason RCD Radio is currently offline and has been for a few months is due to the lack of high quality equipment, I will not stream in poor quality, I refuse, with this being said I would like to announce my aim.

However, on its way is a brand new Dell Precision T3400 machine which shall be used as a server to support a 24/7 Live Music Stream, it was ordered early yesterday morning and is expected to arrive on Friday 5th September, once we have it up and running, you will be the first to know by our blog.

IdleChat IRC
Our chat used to be held on the iPocalypse IRC network, but recently, iPocalypse has merged in to one great big giant ball of fire with another network (Known as DamDevil IRC) and is now called IdleChat, what does this mean to you? absolutely nothing, the only difference is that the name of the network has changed, you can still use your same old username and password like you always have, this paragraph is a huge shout out to IdleChat! Twitter: http://twitter.com/idlechatirc

DJ Lozo - Wide Shot - Now That's What I Call Music Volume 2Shop
The RCD Radio shop is currently closed while we sort out a new company to print our T-Shirts, you may be able to pre order T-Shirts at some point in the future, but for now, dealing is still going on, we shall update the blog when you can pre order T-Shirts and we shall include it on our Twitter and Facebook pages.

Vaughnlive – Ustream
After hours of considering it, we have decided to switch video streaming platforms for our main stream from Ustream to Vaughn live as Vaughn live meets what we need in order to Live stream, for now though we are going to be giving it a trial run and if it does not turn out as good as we hopped, we shall return back to Ustream, you can check out our stream on Vaughn Live and follow us at http://vaughnlive.rcdradio.com

Justintv
As you may of already heard, Justin.tv shut down in early August and for obvious reasons we do not have any plans to continue with this company, all domains and URL’s to Justin.tv have been removed from our site.

DCB Smart Shirt and Tie Suit Top Hat Smile DJingNew Live Page
We are still working on the Live Page for RCD Radio and it will hopefully be released later next month (October) with some improvements, more about this in a future blog post near the time of the release and a chance for you to properly test it out.

For now, that’s all of our big updates covered for RCD Radio, we shall let you know once our Live 24/7 Broadcast starts, we shall need you to try out our feed for feedback, but more information about that coming later this month.

Please follow us on Twitter and Facebook for updates that don’t make it to our blog, thank you for supporting us and we hope to talk to you very soon.
